The Utmost West

USP have recently launched a WordPress powered site, to capture the offerings of this delightful escape on the Isles of Scilly. The property now under new management instructed a fresh overhaul of the previous site we hosted.

The Moorings is a self-catering cottage sitting a few yards from Great Par beach on the quiet West coast of Bryher. The cosy cottage sleeps two and has stunning sea views with a seating area overlooking the bay and a small private garden with a gas barbecue. The Moorings faces the most Western rocks of the British Isles and benefits from incredible sunsets, the ever changing skies, dramatic waves out at sea and clear starry nights. Great Par beach is a haven for wildlife with frequent visits from seals, oyster catchers and herons.

Colab with Atlas

usp13-NEWS080715

A new creative play-zone for kids has been announced as part of GoldCoast Oceanfest’s line-up for 2015.

The Tiki Hut, designed by local corrugated packaging specialist Atlas Packaging,  will be transformed into a cardboard Nirvana with the intention of challenging families to wake up to the countless possibilities of this humble material.

The interior design of the Tiki Hut will be engineered entirely from cardboard.  Inside, kids will have access to a myriad of shapes and structures designed to reflect the surf and music cues of this established Festival which is now its 17th year.

Children will be given carte blanche to get comfy on a cardboard seat, at a cardboard table and get creative – unleashing their inner Picasso by decorating and personalising many of the cardboard structures on offer – from their very own ‘Bum Box’ – a pop-up cardboard seating device, to surf boards, ukuleles and Tiki Masks.  Posca Marker Pens in various colours and chosen for their suitability for use on cardboard will be provided.

Dave King, Head of Design at Atlas Packaging is delighted to be involved with the development of this cardboard wonderland:  ‘Meeting the challenge of creating a family-friendly ‘zone’ is one that the design team has approached with gusto.  We always love to push the boundaries of this endlessly flexible material and showcase its extraordinary capabilities.’

Warren Latham, Oceanfest Director is delighted to have Atlas on board: ‘GoldCoast Oceanfest is very much a family event.  Children are a big part of our audience so engaging credibly whilst creating memorable experiences is what we do.  We wanted to find a way of adding value for families and The Tiki Hut offers a great way to get kids involved.  The concept fits with the Oceanfest’s green credentials, too; all the cardboard is fully recyclable and will be returned to the plant after the Festival to be used again.’

UrbanSafari Productions were instrumental in introducing recyclable cups to the popular surf and music festival GOLDCOAST OCEANFEST in Croyde this year. ‘Sourcing and designing a solution to reduce our landfill impact is paramount in our operation.’ said Managing Director Warren Latham, ‘we’re even more passionate about it than picking plastic out the sea!’ Working to ensure we responsibly reduce our impacts and importantly recycle means all the good intentions spent saving our planet is less of a burden on our pockets and importantly we break the cycle of burying the problem in landfill sites around the country.

Another collaboration was with local packing specialist Atlas. Being one of the most well equipped corrugated sheet plants in the country Atlas brought the solution to recycling bins at the GoldCoast with a specialised branded bin that is stored flat packed and opens out for use when needed.
